Annual Reunion Postponed Regrettably, in order to comply with the Government’s advice and to safeguard the health of old scholars, staff and patients, it has been decided to postpone the Annual Reunion which was scheduled for Saturday, 9th May. Provisionally, it is hoped that it can be rescheduled for Saturday, September 12th. More news will follow as the situation becomes clearer.
Request for Information LYT Productions are managing a project "Tide Mills - A Living History” funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and South Downs National Park. The concept is to engage the immediate community (and possibly beyond) in the amazing history of Tide Mills. They will work in groups with professional artists from across all media to create installations, informed by the rich scope of happenings at Tide Mills, of which the Heritage’s Tidemills hospital was such a huge part. All will culminate with a celebratory week (provisionally set for spring) where they will literally be bringing Tide Mills back to life for all to see, for free. If you are able to contribute to this worthy cause, either by having attended Tidemills or knowing something of it’s history, then please contact  LYT Productions.
Windmill on TV The Chailey Windmill is featured in BBC’s Bargain Hunt (Series 56, Ardingly 7). It is mentioned in the introduction and then in detail 25 minutes from the start. There is no mention of the Heritage and the curator (wrongly) states that it was used by the cubs and scouts of “Chailey School”. You can watch the program on iPlayer for the next 28 days (from June 10). The Windmill was reputedly haunted. Paddy (David) O’Hara and I slept the night there but to no ill effect. I also remembering it contained a large train set (Hornby Dublo?) which was never played with by the boys. Presumably a forgotten donation. Let me know if you remember it, or have other memories of the Windmill. Ian Sowerby
