Chailey Heritage School Old Scholars Association
LESSONS LEARNED I never made friends as a schoolgirl I never made one friend at all, Whether at Chailey or Totnes Not one friend, not one friend at all. I was wary and cautious and clumsy I wanted my family of course I preferred my elders and betters I didn't respond well to force. I wasn't slender and pretty I preferred a book to a boy But friendship, well I didn't know it But now that I do it's a joy. For you have to stop being wary You have to have one hand stretched out You have to listen to others And sit very firmly on doubt. Take people just as you find them But look them straight in the eye And accept that not everyone's honest Before you wave them "bye bye"
